Lincoln's Daily Devotion

Title: Lincoln's Daily Devotion Prayer and the Foundation of Our Nation

Greetings to all, I am Chairman Bob Sutton, and today, I want to discuss a significant aspect of our nation's history – the Judeo-Christian values that have shaped our society. As we embark on this journey together, I invite you to reflect on the wisdom of one of our most iconic leaders, Abraham Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, was a man deeply rooted in his beliefs. During his presidency, he faced immense challenges, including the American Civil War, which threatened to tear the country apart. Amidst the chaos and heartbreak, Lincoln sought solace in his faith and relied on daily devotion prayers to guide him. These prayers played an essential role in keeping him focused, grounded, and committed to his duties.

One such prayer, which stands out in history, is Lincoln's address before Congress on December 1, 1862. In this address, he called upon the nation to remember its foundations in Judeo-Christian values and urged the people to seek divine guidance as they navigated the turbulent times ahead. Lincoln's words resonate even today, reminding us of the importance of humility, compassion, and unity in the face of adversity.

"Our fathers, who founded this great nation, believed that it was founded on the principles of the Judeo-Christian tradition. They believed that by following these values, our nation would prosper and grow, and that the rights and freedoms we hold dear would be protected and preserved."

This conviction in the founding principles of our nation has played a crucial role in shaping the American identity. From the Declaration of Independence to the Bill of Rights, the influence of Judeo-Christian values can be seen throughout our nation's history. These values have provided us with a moral compass, guiding us through times of prosperity and hardship alike.

Today, as we face our own set of challenges, we must remember the lessons of our past and the guidance of our forefathers. In doing so, we honor the sacrifices of those who came before us and ensure that the values that have shaped our nation will continue to guide us into the future.

As we reflect on Lincoln's daily devotion prayer and the role of Judeo-Christian values in the foundation of our nation, let us recommit ourselves to the pursuit of unity, compassion, and humility. Only by staying true to these principles can we continue to build a stronger and more just society for all.
