Honoring Patriotism and Freedom: Polk County Republicans Celebrate Leaders Who Inspire
The Polk County Republicans have a proud tradition of recognizing exceptional leaders who embody patriotism, dedication, and service to our nation. This tradition began in 2016 with the prestigious Patriot of the Year Award Dinner, where the first honoree was none other than Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, celebrated for his unwavering commitment to the community and public safety.
In 2020, the recognition expanded with the establishment of the Defender of Freedom Award, declared by Polk County Chairman JC Martin. The inaugural honoree for this new distinction was President Donald J. Trump, a leader whose policies and vision have left an indelible mark on the fight for freedom and American exceptionalism. The award was originally dated for August 20, 2020, which coincided with the planned start of the Republican National Convention. Although the convention was canceled due to the pandemic, the spirit of the award remained steadfast.
Chairman JC Martin personally delivered the Defender of Freedom trophy to Mar-a-Lago during a meeting with Robert Sutton. The Polk County Republicans are deeply honored to see the trophy proudly displayed at Mar-a-Lago—a testament to the lasting appreciation for President Trump’s leadership.
As the Polk County Republicans continue to recognize those who champion the cause of liberty and service, this tradition stands as a powerful reminder of the values that make America great.
